RI EDC to meet with businesses affected by Sandy

BRISTOL, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island economic development officials plan to meet with business owners to discuss ways the state can aid in the recovery from Superstorm Sandy.

The Rhode Island Economic Development Corp. has scheduled three visits this week in Westerly, Newport and Bristol to meet with business owners interested in applying for emergency loan assistance.

EDC staff will be available at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bristol Town Hall, at 1 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, and at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Westerly Community Credit Union.

Businesses who suffered problems because of Sandy are eligible to apply for loans of $10,000 to $25,000. A total of $1 million in emergency loans has been set aside to help businesses cope with the storm's economic impact.
