When I finally met Jacques, I was open to meeting new people and I had a positive attitude about life. To meet a great guy like him, you have to think that every time you leave your house — whether you are going to the market, church, or the hardware store (always a great place) — that you might meet the man of your dreams. Being interested is what makes you interesting, so why not take an art or cooking class or volunteer for a cause you care about? This way, you’ll meet a man who enjoys doing the same things as you and with whom you have some sort of connection. Stay positive and you’ll be surprised how many great guys are attracted to you. The basics every woman should have in her closet are a well-made sheath dress in a solid color like navy or beige that mixes with everything, a great pair of neutral pumps that can take you from day to night, and a light trench coat. It’s amazing how a simple dress can be made fabulous by adding interesting accessories like large turquoise earrings or a chic scarf. Choose a pump that matches your skin tone to make your legs look longer. CHIC!

I always say that looking elegant is not dependent on the amount of money you spend but on how you put yourself together. Don’t blow your entire clothing budget on trends — instead invest in classic pieces that will last for years. I’m a huge fan of interesting accessories like big statement necklaces that take a simple dress from daytime luncheon to evening cocktail.
