(KRON) — Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will announce his running mate on Tuesday morning in Oakland. The announcement is set for 11 a.m. at the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts.

“This historic event will reaffirm the key principles of the Kennedy campaign of restoring the middle class, ending the chronic disease epidemic, unwinding the war machine, and unraveling corporate capture of our government agencies,” Kennedy’s campaign said in a statement.

A number of names have been floated as possible vice presidential picks for the candidate, including NFL star Aaron Rodgers, former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, and former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. Nicole Shanahan, a lawyer and mega-donor is another likely No. 2 pick for Kennedy, according to a report in The Hill.

Shanahan is the former wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin and has ties to the Silicon Valley, according to The Hill. She was born in Oakland.

Despite his controversial stance on vaccines, Kennedy, who is running as an independent, has made inroads toward getting on the ballot. According to his campaign, he is already on the ballot in Utah, New Hampshire, and Nevada.
