Revelers fill the streets for annual Westchester Fourth of July Parade

Jul. 4—Squirt guns and the boom of a cannon brought downtown Bakersfield to life Tuesday morning with the 34th running of the Westchester Fourth of July Parade.

Crowds gathered under shady trees along the route for what was again a colorful event featuring Corvettes and beauty queens, a marching band and Young Marines.

Special honor went to local World War II veteran Ray Mish. Others receiving recognition were Mayor Karen Goh and members of Honor Flight Kern County.
