Now you don’t need to tell us that reports of leaked fixtures should always be taken with an ocean’s worth of salt.

Every year at the start of June, someone somewhere gets hold of the games for the first day of the new season.

Every year, it’s just the opening day – and every year you get too caught up in the excitement planning your away trips when they are officially announced that you forget to remember back and say ‘hold up….I thought we were going to Old Trafford first!’.

This time, the usually quite reliable @westhamunitednews have made the claim to being the ones to get there first.

They have posted an image on their instagram fan page of what they have heard the fixtures are for the second weekend of August.

So, who’s going where on the first day of the season?

Well West Ham haven’t got an easy start if their fan account is on the money – they go to Liverpool.

Arsenal’s new era sees them face Brighton in Unai Emery’s opening game, while champions Manchester City supposedly take on Everton.

Burnley host Tottenham and Watford and apparently due to welcome Leicester City.

Bournemouth face Cardiff City, Chelsea take on Championship champions Wolves and play-off winners Fulham meet Newcastle.

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United face a trip to Southampton, while Huddersfield and Crystal Palace go into battle in Yorkshire.
