What did you miss?

The final celebrity episode in the current series of The Great British Bake Off saw Reverend Richard Coles step into the famous tent. His time on the show culminated with the creation of an enormous Victoria sponge representation of his friend Grayson Perry.

Coles ultimately came up short to radio presenter Sara Cox in the competition, but his show-stopper based on Perry's alter ego Claire received rave reviews from the judges.

For the show-stopper challenge, the celebrities on this week's episode were tasked with creating a representation of their best celebrity friend in some form of cake.

Coles went for Perry, Cox decided to bake Jeremy Vine on a Penny Farthing, and Heartstopper star Joe Locke chose musical theatre legend Patti LuPone. Comedian Adam Hills, however, took a different tack and decided to bake a cake representing his Last Leg co-host Alex Brooker's prosthetic leg.

Cox's cake won the plaudits in terms of taste, but Coles received a lot of compliments for how well his cake resembled Claire. "The likeness is excellent. It really does look like Grayson," said Prue Leith.

Viewers agreed with Leith, showering Coles' cake with positive comments about how much it ended up looking like Perry.

Unfortunately, the baking wasn't quite up to scratch and didn't match up to the ambitious design. Paul Hollywood said Coles had made "quite a robust sponge," adding: "Great flavour, but you've over-baked it."

Leith conceded that "the texture's not perfect". Coles had the final word in assessing his baking, telling Hollywood and Leith: "That's what we vicars would call a brave effort."

It was Sara Cox who ended up winning the show, having secured a pretty much perfect run in the competition. She earned a Hollywood Handshake for the signature challenge, finished in first place in the technical, and then nailed her show-stopper as well. It was the easiest possible decision for the judges.

Cox joins Dermot O'Leary, Gabby Logan, Leigh Francis, and Spencer Matthews among the celebrity winners of the latest series. We now won't get to return to the Bake Off tent until the new series of the main show later this year.
