Ko, Broch Larsen lead CP Women's Open as Henderson lurks
World No. 1 Jin Young Ko of South Korea fired a bogey-free 7-under 65 on Saturday to grab a share of the lead with Denmark's Nicole Broch Larsen at the CP Women's Open in Aurora, Ontario. Ko, who is bogey free through 54 holes, carded seven birdies on her day at Magna Golf Club to move into a tie atop of the leaderboard at 18-under 198 alongside Larsen, the second-round leader who shot 66 for the third straight day.
Djokovic unfazed by foot blisters ahead of U.S. Open
Novak Djokovic interrupted his U.S. Open practice twice on Saturday to have a trainer look at his right foot but the defending champion said the discomfort was due to blisters and is not a concern. So uncomfortable was Djokovic that he removed his shoe and sock to have his right foot inspected. Later in the practice he stopped mid-sprint, lifted his right leg off the ground and hopped around on his left foot.
Pole Hurkacz lifts first ATP trophy at Winston-Salem Open
Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz outdueled top seed Benoit Paire to earn his first ATP title with a 6-3 3-6 6-3win in the Winston-Salem Open final on Saturday. Hurkacz, 22, steadied himself through a roller coaster affair, which included a brief rain delay after the second set, and came out on top after two hours and nine minutes.
Athletics: Lyles romps to 200m victory in Paris
World championship favorite Noah Lyles stormed to the year's second fastest 200 meters, 19.65 seconds, as he returned to competition at the Paris Diamond League meeting on Saturday. Reigning world champion Ramil Guliyev of Turkey was more than three-tenths of a second adrift in 20.01 and Canadian Aaron Brown finished third in 20.13.

NFL notebook: No timetable for Cam Newton’s return
Cam Newton might be in jeopardy of missing the Carolina Panthers' opener against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 8. Panthers coach Ron Rivera said "there is no timetable" for the quarterback's return, two days after Newton suffered a left mid-foot sprain in a preseason game against the New England Patriots. Newton exited the stadium in a walking boot and X-rays detected the sprain.
MLB notebook: Giants’ Sandoval to have Tommy John surgery
San Francisco Giants infielder Pablo Sandoval will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, the team announced Saturday. Sandoval last played on Aug. 9 and went on the 10-day injured list five days later. He was examined on Wednesday by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, and the noted orthopedic surgeon recommended the reconstructive surgery in which the ulnar collateral ligament is repaired.
