Return of the royal baby: Prince Louis will be christened next month

Better set a Google Calendar alert for Prince Louis: He’s got something important on July 9.

After missing out on major royal events like Trooping the Colour and his uncle Prince Harry‘s wedding, the youngest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton is set to reemerge for his christening next month.

Kensington Palace has announced that the royal baby — who hasn’t been seen in public since his birth April 23 — will be christened July 9 by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby. Welby also married Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the royal wedding May 19 and baptised both of Louis’s siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Prince Louis’s christening will take place at St. James’s Palace in London, where brother George was christened in 2013. Sister Charlotte was christened at the royal family estate in Sandringham.

The rest of the royal family — including newlyweds Harry and Meghan, who will leave for their Dublin trip the day after — are expected to attend the ceremony, where the young prince’s godparents will be formally announced.
