New restaurant opening soon, bringing Nashville Hot Chicken to Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A new restaurant is bringing its unique take on chicken to Baton Rouge.

Co-owner, Moe Badawi said Chicken Wagon Nashville Hot Chicken, 1955 Staring Lane, is estimated to open around the middle of March.

While construction is ongoing, Badawi said when they open, customers will be able to get “Coke products, Hot chicken, crinkle fries, loaded mac and cheese, chicken tenders and chicken wings.”

He said the recipe for the Nashville-style hot chicken is their home recipe. “We have traveled around the country comparing recipes and been in the restaurant business since 1990,” said Badawi.

The restaurant will serve chicken ranging from non-seasoned to extra spicy that will “make your eyes water,” said Badawi.

He said this is the first Chicken Wagon Nashville Hot Chicken location and they will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Customers will be able to take out, use the drive-thru or eat in said Badawi.

The restaurant interior highlights one-of-a-kind artwork. Anime or cartoons will cover the restaurant. Badawi said he went to Dubai, Jordan and Australia for over 60 days to work with artists to create the art.

He said that when customers walk in, it will be like walking into a museum or art gallery.
