Residents displaced after electrical fire leaves $9K in damages to Roanoke home

ROANOKE. Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Fire and EMS Department says occupants are now without a place to live after a fire at their home on Tuesday morning.

According to the fire department, around 5 a.m. on May 7, crews were dispatched to the 1300 block of Stewart Avenue SE. On the scene, firefighters found light smoke between the basement and the first floor.

As they continued to investigate, crews discovered the fire within an exterior wall, and it was quickly extinguished.

According to the Fire Marshal, the cause of the fire was electrical and ruled as an accident. The fire causes about $9,000 in damage.

The occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

There were no reported injuries.
