Rescue efforts continue after cargo ship crash causes bridge collapse in Baltimore

A major bridge in Baltimore has collapsed after a container ship crashed into it early Tuesday.

10:10 a.m. update:

Officials have confirmed there are still six people unaccounted for, and two have been rescued.

Coast Guard crews are still actively searching for victims.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said the incident appears to be an accident and not a terrorist attack.

The National Transportation Safety Board is headed to the scene to conduct an investigation.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation into the accident.

Police said at least seven people ended up in the water.

A video shared with Channel 9 shows the Francis Scott Key Bridge falling into the river.

Francis Scott Key Bridge before the damage:

Officials say a large ship hit one of the bridge’s support columns.

That bridge had four lanes and was about one-and-a-half miles long.

Dive teams are now looking for victims who may be in the water.
