Republicans led in early in-person and Election Day voting in Eddy County local elections

Republicans outpaced Democrats and other parties during early and absentee voting during the Nov. 7 local elections as of 10:30 a.m., according to data from the New Mexico Secretary of State's office.

Republican cast 1,613 votes early, absentee and on Election Day, according to the data from the Secretary of State.

Nine hundred and seventy-two Democrats voted early, absentee and on Election Day in Eddy County. One hundred eighty-one voters declined to state a party affiliation, according to the data.

Fourteen Libertarians voted early, absentee and on Election Day and three voters who self-identified as "other" had voted on Election Day or voted early in person.

Democrats led in absentee ballots

According to the Secretary of State, 165 Democrats requested absentee ballots and 126 Republicans voted absentee. Seventeen absentee ballots were requested by those who declined to state.
