Republic Airways announces contract with Teamsters

Republic has tentative contract with Teamsters covering more than 2,000 flight attendants

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Republic Airways Holdings Inc. says it has a deal with the Teamsters on a five-year contract covering more than 2,000 flight attendants.

The agreement, which still needs ratification by the workers, includes pay raises and more flexibility in scheduling for flight attendants at Chautauqua Airlines, Republic Airlines and Shuttle America.

Republic said Monday that the tentative deal would let the company remain competitive as it pursues additional flying. The Republic subsidiaries provide regional airline service to larger airlines.

Republic, based in Indianapolis, operates about 285 aircraft on nearly 1,500 flights a day through its Frontier Airlines subsidiary and for AmericanConnection, Delta Connection, United Express, and US Airways Express.

Shares of Republic closed Monday at $11.25, down 26 cents.
