Reports: Alabama Hostage Situation Over
U.S. officials and law-enforcement officials tell the outlets that the suspect in the ordeal, a 65-year-old truck driver named Jimmy Lee Sykes (right), is dead, and that his hostage — a five-year-old special needs child — is in the process of being rescued but is safe. Sykes had kidnapped the child and burrowed in underground bunker in Midland City, Alabama, on Tuesday after allegedly killing his school-bus driver.
