BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Jameis Winston era as a player for the New Orleans Saints is over.

According to the Bleacher Report, Winston is nearing finalization of a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns. The contract is reported to be worth up to $8.7 million.

Winston first joined the Saints in 2020 and backed up Drew Brees. He took over as the Saints starter in 2021 but was injured for the season after starting the year with a 5-2 record.

Winston has become a fan favorite with Saints fans and New Orleans residents, showing up to many events in the city including several Mardi Gras parades.
