“My husband and I were in bed when (my son) came upstairs to get a snack and the whole front of the house was on fire,” she told the newspaper. “The whole front door … Flames were coming through the front door and the windows.”

The three of them, along with their two dogs, were able to escape.

The newspaper reported a propane tank on the porch exploded while the fire crews were on the scene.

The Greenville Daily News reported firefighters rescued the family’s three cats from inside the home, but the two dogs, a black Great Dane named Buster and a white Great Pyrenees St. Bernard named Maggie, ran off into the surrounding woods. Neighbors are helping the family look for them.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the newspaper reported.
