Report: ND's economic growth outpaces other states

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis says North Dakota's economic growth has outpaced all other states for the third straight year.

The report says that North Dakota's gross domestic product increased by 13.4 percent to $38.7 billion in 2012. GDP measures total economic production.

Texas had the second-largest increase, growing at rate of 4.8 percent. The country's average growth rate was 2.5 percent in 2012.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple says the state's strong business climate, skilled and dedicated workforce and small business innovation is powering economic growth.

The governor's office say North Dakota has created 102,100 new non-farm jobs since 2000.
