Report: At least 20 illegal immigrants drown when their boat sinks off Turkish coast
ISTANBUL - Turkish media say at least 20 illegal immigrants have drowned after their boat sank off the coast of western Turkey.
Turkey's TRT television says 20 bodies were recovered and an unknown number of immigrants remain missing. Reports say nearly 50 people survived, and that the immigrants are mostly from Iraq and Syria.
The Hurriyet newspaper website said Thursday that more than 100 people were on the boat. It was not immediately clear when the vessel sank.
