Report: Lakers agree to 1-year deal with veteran Dudley

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly landed veteran forward Jared Dudley on a one-year deal worth $2.6 million.

News of the agreement came Tuesday from ESPN, citing Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, which represents Dudley.

Dudley is a 12-year veteran who is known around the league as a great locker room prescience and was a nominee for the NBA's Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award last season.

Dudley has played for seven teams, and spent the 2018-19 season as a member of the Brooklyn Nets. While with the Nets, Dudley played in 59 games (25 starts) and averaged 20.7 minutes, 4.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

For his career, Dudley -- a San Diego native -- is a 39.2% 3-point shooter. In 847 games (285 starts), he has averaged 7.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in just over 23 minutes.

"This is something I've been contemplating," Dudley said, according to HoopsHype.com. "I'd be getting a chance to compete for a championship, which is something I haven't had since the Steve Nash (Suns) days. I just think that being home and with that Laker brand, what's better than that?"

While waiting for prized free agent Kawhi Leonard to make his decision, the Lakers have been mostly quiet on the free agent front. Before signing Dudley, their only other move was signing Troy Daniels to a one-year deal.
