Report on former DC deputy mayor’s sexual harassment claims leaked

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The report on sexual harassment claims involving former Deputy Mayor John Falcicchio was leaked and it included some of the victims’ names.

D.C. Councilmember Brianne Nadeau was not happy about the leak.

“It’s abhorrent,” Nadeau said, as the report includes the names of the two women who claim he harassed them.

“It was very clear to everybody who received a copy of the report that this was confidential, and that there was a process for releasing it under way,” Nadeau added.

The council received the report last Friday, just days after Mayor Muriel Bowser’s administration reached settlements with the now-former District employees.

“It is shameful that somebody would further victimize people that have already been harmed by a high level government official,” Nadeau said.

A stronger response came from the attorneys for the two accusers.

“The behavior and the secrecy around the release of the inspector general report is disgusting,” Debra Katz and Kayla Morin stated in an email.

Falcicchio resigned in March 2023 after the claims came to light.

Nadeau read the report, and declined declined to speak on what it found, including the possibility of other victims.

“I think anyone who became aware of what was going on through these allegations assumed there would always be more,” Nadeau said.

The General Counsel at the District of Columbia, according to Nadeau, is reviewing the report. It then goes to the inspector general before it’s released to the public.

“The most important thing that came out of this is that John Falcicchio is no longer a member of the D.C. government,” Nadeau said, as the the investigative report cost the District more than $700,000.

Falciccio’s attorney did not respond to DC News Now’s request for comment.
