Report: Deebo Samuel and Skai Moore cleared regarding alleged bar assault
Two of South Carolina’s more prominent players have been cleared in a bar incident that happened in Columbia, South Carolina, last weekend.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel and linebacker Skai Moore were not involved in the alleged assault that happened early Saturday morning according to the Charleston Post and Courier. A warrant is out for the arrest of former South Carolina linebacker Jalen Dread.
Jalen Dread, who planned to transfer after last season and is no longer on the USC roster, is wanted by Columbia police for simple assault following an incident that occurred at 2:45 a.m. April 29 at Five Points Saloon. Police determined USC receiver Deebo Samuel was not present at the time of the incident, and linebacker Skai Moore was there but did not participate, the department announced Saturday.
A man had said he was punched after he confronted people after his phone was knocked out of his hand. Samuel, Moore and Dread were initially identified because they were football players. After the initial report of the accusation, South Carolina coach Will Muschamp said the accusation was incorrect.
Samuel had 59 catches for 783 yards and seven total touchdowns in 2016. Moore missed the 2016 season because of a neck injury but led the team in tackles in 2015.
