Report: Complaints begin about Kirk Cousins in Washington locker room

Well, that didn’t take long. After the Washington Redskins’ second straight loss, a 27-23 failure at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys that wasn’t as close as it appears, rumbling has apparently begun in the Washington locker room.

Citing the ever-popular anonymous source, Pro Football Talk reports that the undercurrents of discontent have begun burbling in the locker room regarding quarterback Kirk Cousins. Cousins was 28-of-46 for 364 yards against Dallas, with one touchdown and one interception. But various offensive players are beginning to complain that Cousins lacks decisiveness and effectiveness, per PFT.

So what’s the other option? Colt McCoy? “At least he’d play with poise,” PFT’s source said.

This, of course, puts Washington in a bit of a bind: the franchise and its fans spent the past two years basically running Robert Griffin III out of town on a rail, claiming that Cousins was the way and the light for this beleaguered franchise. Cousins declined a long-term contract and opted to play for one year under a $19.95 million deal, angling for an even bigger payday at the end of the season.

If Cousins continues to struggle, however, that gargantuan payday may not be forthcoming. Between this, the RG3 situation, and all the other woes that have beset anyone since Mark Rypien to take snaps in D.C., it’s almost as if Washington is, well … cursed.
