Report: Brownwood 3-year-old shoots self in head while father was driving

BROWNWOOD, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A Brownwood 3-year-old shot himself in the head while his father was driving Sunday morning.

The incident happened on CR 234 around 11:00 a.m.

Brown County Sheriff Vance Hill says the father was driving down the road when his 3-year-old child accessed a pistol he had stored in his vehicle and shot himself in the head.

Sheriff Hill says the father rushed the child to the hospital, where initial lifesaving measures were taken. He was then flown to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Ft. Worth, where he underwent surgery and is currently is ICU.

It’s currently unclear if anyone will be facing criminal charges in connection to this shooting, but the investigation is ongoing.
