Report: Bengals' Marvin Lewis leaving team at end of season

It’s the end of an era in Cincinnati, as head coach Marvin Lewis will step down at the end of the year. Per ESPN:

Lewis has coached the Bengals for 15 years, compiling a 123-111-3 record over 237 games heading into Week 15, including four division championships. But it’s his playoff record that draws the most heat: seven appearances, seven first-game losses, including a five-year run from 2011-15 where the Bengals never got past their first postseason game.

The Bengals are 5-8 heading into Week 15, and so are guaranteed not to send Lewis off with a winning season. Lewis’ departure will bring to a close the second-longest head coaching tenure, after the Patriots’ Bill Belichick, in the NFL.
