Report: Allegan man dies after crash in Monroe County

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An Allegan man has reportedly died after a crash over the weekend in southeast Michigan.

News 8 affiliate WDIV-TV reports 52-year-old Robert Fuss died after a crash Sunday morning in La Salle Township. Fuss was reportedly driving down a road near the North Cape Yacht Club when he blew through the dead end and crashed into a lagoon off Lake Erie.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office told WDIV that by the time first responders arrived, they found Fuss dead in the water next to his car.

It was unknown if he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. First responders say the car’s airbags did not deploy.

Investigators do believe speed was a factor in the crash, however, the investigation remains open.
