RENO COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — The Reno County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a scam.

The RCSO says they received several calls on Tuesday from the public saying they received a call from someone claiming to be Lance Smith with the sheriff’s office.

“This ‘Lance Smith’ is demanding that they pay a $5,000 fine to stay out of jail,” said the RCSO. “The Reno County Sheriff’s Office will not contact you over the phone regarding a warrant or payment of said warrant.”
