Remarkably, John McAfee Returns to the U.S. Without Breaking Any Laws
John McAfee, former software entrepreneur and object of everyone's curiosity, landed safely in Miami on Wednesday evening, after an epic adventure in Central America. The adventure took the 67-year-old from a weapon-filled compound on a beach in Belize, a harrowing series of days on the lam and, eventually, a Guatemalan prison. Depending on your level of interest in the debacle, the last time we saw McAfee was either when he sort of had a heart attack or when he forgot to turn off the camera during a very strange webcast on Monday night. Bygones will be bygones, though, now that McAfee is back in the good old United States. And apparently, he didn't even have to break any laws to get here.

McAfee's exit from Guatemala was a hasty one. Just hours after Guatemala formally ordered him to be deported for illegally entering the country, authorities hustled McAfee on to a plane bound for Florida. He was not joined by his 20-year-old girlfriend Sam, who's from Belize, though he promised to try and get her a visa. On one hand, it was a stressful turn of events for the man of mystery. "They took me out of my cell and put me on a freaking airplane," McAfee told ABC News. "I had no choice in the matter." On the other hand, Miami is a nice little vacation spot. "I'm happy to be going home," he said. "I've been running through jungles and rivers and oceans and I think I need to rest for a while." Of his deportation, McAfee added, "It was the most gracious expulsion I've ever experienced. Compared to my past two wives that expelled me this isn't a terrible trip."

On the other hand, it's unclear what McAfee's fate in the U.S. might be. To our knowledge, he's not wanted for any crimes in the U.S., though Belize still wants to bring him for questioning in the case of his neighbor's murder. It doesn't sound like McAfee is worried about going back to jail. "I'm just going to hang in Miami for a while," McAfee told Reuters. "I like Miami. There is a great sushi place there and I really like sushi."
