The decision to get a family dog comes with a lot of responsibility.

And let's face it, most kids aren't always willing when it comes to following through on chores. So when these kids begged their father to get a family dog, he reluctantly agreed — with a catch.

Outlined in a 13 term Family Dog Contract, the unenthusiastic dad laid out some very important rules which the kids must abide by in order for the family to get a dog.

Among the terms, standouts are definitely are as follows:

1. Dad never has to pick up dog poop. Ever. The dog's poop is picked up at least 3 times per week by children to Dad's satisfaction.

5. The dog does not slobber or have a runny nose. All parties agree that those kind of dogs are gross.

9. Dad has unrestrictive veto power over the dog's name.

In the Reddit comments where the photo was originally posted, the father, rjohnstone13, explained that the family did indeed get a dog two weeks after the contract was signed, and that the kids held up their end of the contract.

"Everyone (including Dad) adores the dog, which has been a fantastic addition to (though not member of) our family," the father wrote.
