Reid Set to Push for Conference on Budget

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, is expected to ask the Senate for consent to move to a conference on the budget, according to a Democratic aide.

It is unclear whether Republicans will allow Reid to move forward on a conference with the House, however.

Senate Republicans have been keeping a low profile as House Republicans hash out their strategy, and the GOP might opt to block the effort.

Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray, D-Wash., has argued the two chambers should go to a conference to try and resolve differences and negotiate a budget. But House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., has said he wanted to establish a framework in a pre-conference first.
