Southeast DC day care reopens one week after Anacostia explosions

The incident happened in the 1200 block of Marion Barry Ave. in Southeast D.C. at 10:03 a.m. DC Fire and EMS said people evacuated a building because someone reported a gas leak.

Later, the second floor of a building exploded. DC Fire and EMS said a flash fire and a second explosion followed. Among those buildings that collapsed was the Baby Einstein day care facility.

DC Fire and EMS said the gas leak started after a car hit a meter attached to the building where the first explosion took place.
