Redstone hosts Army units as AMCOM teaches readiness

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Army units met on Redstone Arsenal Tuesday for AMCOM 101, a conference meant to share how U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) can support the rest of the Army.

AMCOM is headquartered on Redstone Arsenal, where leadership directs thousands of soldiers and civilian employees across the county. The U.S. Army prioritizes readiness, and AMCOM plays a big role in making sure the Army is prepared to take action.

“The Army is all about learning lessons and doing things better tomorrow than we did today and certainly than we did yesterday,” Maj. Gen. Tom O’Connor said.

O’Connor, who is the commander of AMCOM, said with this knowledge, he hopes to decrease costs and improve training across units in the future.

“I hope they take back some management tools which is what we’re trying to provide, some assets for them to reference or just a person like myself to call when you need help,” said Chief Warrant Officer 5 Paul McNeill.

McNeill has attended AMCOM 101 in past years. Now, as the Army Aviation Branch Maintenance Officer, he helps instruct others at the conference.

AMCOM supplies aviation parts and works on maintenance and calibration.
