Red's Ale House OK'd for beer sales at new location

Mar. 21—The Cumberland County Beer Board met Monday night and approved one application for an on premises beer sales permit for Joy Smith for Red's Ale House at 4568 Peavine Rd.

One of Fairfield Glade's most popular restaurants, Red's, recently relocated to Peavine Rd. from Drew Howard Rd. in the former Spike's Sports Bar and Pub and was unable to sell alcohol after just reopening.

Under Tennessee Code Annotated 57-5-103(a) a permit is valid only for a single location, which includes all decks, patios, and other outdoor serving areas contiguous to the location. If an owner operates two or more restaurants or other businesses within the same building, the owner may, in the owner's discretion, operate some or all of the businesses under the same permit. Permits are not transferable from one location to another.

John Patterson, 9th District commissioner and beer board member, said, "I've reviewed the application and see no issues with granting the application. I move we grant the application."

Terry Lowe, 5th District commissioner and beer board member, supported the motion and it was unanimously approved.

Smith did not attend the meeting. As long as all paperwork and the application are filed properly, an applicant does not need to be present at the meeting for approval.

The license will now be recorded in the Cumberland County Clerk's office and a permit will be issued.
