'Red, White, and Royal Blue,' the Gay R-Rated Rom-Com, Debuts Key Art

Diplomatic Relations Hasn't Ever Looked So Good

Based on the New York Times best-seller, Red, White, and Royal Blue premieres globally on Prime Video on August 11 with a motion picture edition of the book out on July 4.

The film is directed and co-written by Tony Award-winning playwright Matthew López and adapted from the novel by Casey McQuiston. Ted Malawer co-wrote the film.

Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez star in the film.

Zakhar Perez plays Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of the President of the United States (played by Uma Thurman) whose feud with British Prince Henry (Galitzine) turns romantic — and steamy.

“Separated by an ocean, their long-running feud hasn’t really been an issue, until a disastrous—and very public—altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder, driving a potential wedge in U.S./British relations at the worst possible time. Going into damage-control mode, their families and handlers force the two rivals into a staged ‘truce,’” the film’s description reads.

Ultimately the truce becomes a friendship, which becomes something much, much more.
