Red Lobsters in Wauwatosa, La Crosse part of dozens of abrupt closings across U.S.

The Wauwatosa and La Crosse Red Lobster locations are listed as "temporarily closed" after dozens of Red Lobster restaurants across the U.S. closed their doors abruptly on Monday.

The Wauwatosa Red Lobster, at 2801 N. Mayfair Road, and La Crosse Red Lobster, at 3333 WI-16, were listed as closed, according to Red Lobster's website.

Red Lobster is closing at least 48 restaurants across the country, according to media reports. Thousands of workers could be impacted across the U.S. Red Lobster did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A restaurant supply liquidator, TAGeX Brands, is auctioning off kitchen equipment from the closed Red Lobsters, according to the liquidator's website, which states the auction is live and ends Thursday.

The restaurant chain known for its Cheddar Bay Biscuits is reportedly struggling financially. Bloomberg reported in April that the seafood chain was considering filing for bankruptcy.

Red Lobster has six Wisconsin locations that still appear to be open – Appleton, Ashwaubenon, Eau Claire, Greenfield, Madison and Mount Pleasant.
