Need to recycle TVs, light bulbs or electronics? You can at this Two Rivers event in June, plus more news in brief.

TWO RIVERS – Two Rivers Utilities will hold an electronics recycling drive from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 11 at the Electric Utility Office, 1415 Lake St., Two Rivers.

A fee will be required to recycle items such as TVs, monitors, fluorescent and incandescent light bulbs, and batteries.

No fee will be required for items such as electronics, rechargeable batteries and non-PCB ballasts.

Large appliances will not be accepted.

Visit www.two-rivers.org/trwl/page/recycle-event for more information and associated fees.

Two Rivers Utilities has collected more than 15 tons of recycling items during its electronics, bulb and batteries recycling collection events since 2010. Electronics are the fastest-growing segment of the municipal solid waste stream and may contain hazardous materials including lead, chromium and mercury. Keeping electronics out of landfills reduces negative impacts to both environmental and human health. In Wisconsin, certain items — including TVs, computers and cell phones — are banned from Wisconsin landfills under a 2009 law.
