Recount confirms Hoelscher’s single-vote win

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The first of two recounts for the March 5th Republican primary elections in Tom Green County confirmed that incumbent Precinct 1 County Commissioner Ralph Hoelscher won his election by a single vote.

Teams coordinated by the Tom Green County Republican Party conducted the recount on Thursday at Tom Green County Elections headquarters in the Edd B. Keys building in San Angelo.

Tom Green County Elections Administrator Vona Hudson told Concho Valley Homepage that the tally from the recount was exactly the same as the results reported on election night. Hoelscher received 862 votes, while his challenger, Michelle Schniers DeRusso, received 861 votes.

A second recount for the Tom Green County Constable Precinct 4 race is scheduled for Friday, March 22nd, at elections headquarters. In that race, results reported Thomas Bigham ahead of Gary Cole by 84 votes.
