Record-breaking, record-tying heat in Virginia, Maryland, DC area

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — If you thought it felt crazy hot in the D.C. area for the beginning of May on Thursday, you’re kind of right.

The temperature at each of the region’s airports either tied a record or broke it.

At Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in Arlington, Va., the temperature hit 91 degrees, tying its record high.

It was a similar story at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) in Anne Arundel County, Md. where the hot day brought a temperature of 90 degrees, the record high already set at BWI.

At Washington Dulles International Aiport (IAD) in Loudoun County, Va., the high temperature of 91 degress was a record breaker. The previous record for May 2 at IAD was set in 2018. On that day, the temperature hit 88 degrees.
