It wouldn’t be inappropriate to say, this original quote of Guy de Maupassant was made famous by Captain R Subramanian (Kirti Chakra)– one of India’s bravest, most efficient and intelligent officers who fought in the ‘Kargil War’. He was one among the hundreds of valiant soldiers who laid down their lives and fought until their last breath to protect the country, to protect the people of country from the Pakistani infiltration at the Line of Control in May, 1999.

On the 17th Kargil Vijay Diwas Day, as the nation pays homage to the soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate, here is a compilation of some crucial facts about the chilling Kargil war which every Indian must be cognizant of.
