Recently resigned Greene County school board member still on ballot

In the resignation letter he submitted Friday, Cobble said he was stepping down “due to his declining health.”

Although he resigned, Cobble is still on the ballot for the general election on Aug. 1, according to the county elections administrator. News Channel 11 reached out to Cobble about the election, but he has not responded.

The former board member won the Republican primary in March.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating Cobble regarding allegations made against him, but the TBI declined to elaborate on what the allegations are.

News Channel 11 reached out to Greene County Schools central office about the investigation and Cobble’s position and received a statement:

“As this matter is under criminal investigation, we are not permitted to disclose any information within the school system’s knowledge about the case as per standing instructions from the district Attorney General’s office.”
