Recalls this week: Baby strollers, pajama sets
Bugaboo baby strollers with potentially defective carry handles and a line of children's pajama sets that don't meet flammability standards are among the consumer products recalled this week. Others include defective cookware and air misters.
BABY STROLLERS
DETAILS: Bugaboo International Cameleon and Donkey baby strollers. The Cameleon strollers were sold between Sept. 2009 and June of 2012 and include the following serial numbers: 04011090900001 to 04031101009999, 08011090900001 to 08021100800386, and 140100093600531 to 140103123350418. The Donkey models were sold between Jan. 2011 and Dec. 2012 and include serial numbers 170101105300001 to 170104130900500. Serial numbers are printed on the stroller's chassis, located under the carrycot/seat.
WHY: A button on the stroller's carrycot/seat carry handle can become disengaged and cause the handle to detach, posing fall and choking hazards to young children.
INCIDENTS: 58 reports of carry handles detaching, but no injuries reported.
HOW MANY: About 46,300 in the U.S. and 4,440 in Canada.

PAJAMAS SETS
DETAILS: Target Corp.'s Circo and Xhilaration children's cotton or cotton/fleece two-piece pajama sets. They were made by Makalot Garments Co. Ltd. of Taiwan and sold in infant and toddler sizes 12M, 2T, 3T, 4T and 5T, and in girls and boys sizes XS, S, M, L and XL. There are a variety of colors and designs, including stars, dots, skulls, peace signs, cats, owls, footballs and camouflage. To see a complete list of item numbers included in this recall, visit the firm's website. The item number is located on a tag on the shirt's side seam and on the pants at the waist. A tag printed on the neck of the pajamas reads "Circo" or "Xhilaration", "Wear snug-fitting not flame resistant" and the item number. They were sold from August 2012 through November 2012.
WHY: The pajamas sets fail to meet the federal flammability standards for children's sleepwear, because they do not meet tight-fitting sizing requirements. That poses a burn hazard to children.

THERMAL WALL COOKWARE
DETAILS: Royal Prestige 9-Ply Thermal Wall Cookware imported by Hy Cite Enterprises LLC of Madison, Wis., and made by Meyer Europe SRL of Verdellino, Italy. The stainless steel 9-ply "Thermal Wall" pans were sold under the "Royal Prestige" brand name. The cookware includes a 1.5-quart saucepan, 2-quart saucepan, 3-quart Dutch oven, 4-quart Dutch oven, 6-quart Dutch oven, 8-quart Dutch oven, 8-inch skillet, 10.5-inch skillet, 10-inch paella pan, and 14-inch paella pan. The pots and pans have a seal including "Thermal Wall" and "9-Ply" imprinted on the bottom.
WHY: The cookware can collapse, crimp, or severely deform when exposed to heat, posing a burn and fire hazard to the consumer and things nearby.
INCIDENTS: 1,136 reports of cookware collapsing, crimping or deforming, including one report of consumers getting spattered with hot oil when the pan collapsed inward while cooking.

MOTORCYCLES
DETAILS: KTM-Sportmotorcycle AG Enduro motorcycles. The recall involves seven of the 2013 and one of the 2012 model off-road and closed-course motorcycles. Model numbers included are: 2013 KTM Motorcycles: 250 XC-F, 250 XCF-W, 350 XC-F, 350 XCF-W, 450 XC-F, 450 XC-W, 500 XC-W and MY 2012 KTM 350 XCF-W. The model number is printed on the rear fender on both sides of the motorcycle just below the tail end of the seat.
WHY: The pre-formed fuel hose can develop small holes or cracks at the ends of the hose, allowing fuel to leak. It poses a fire and crash hazard.
INCIDENTS: 13 reports of fuel leaks, no injuries reported.

FLEECE BLANKET SLEEPERS
DETAILS: The one-piece feet pajamas are fleece and were sold in sizes 12 months, 18 months, 2T, 3T, 4T, XS, S, M, L and XL. They come in three prints: purple owl, pink leopard, and blue doodle. There are several tags sewn into the neckline, with "Circo Sleepwear" printed on the top tag. "Target" and an identification number appear on a third tag. They were sold from August 2012 to October 2012. The Purple Owl identification numbers are 075084972, 075084973, 075084974, 075084975, 075084976, 243271104, 243271105, 243271062, 243271063, and 243271064. The Pink Leopard identification numbers are 075085338, 075085339, 075085340, 075085341, 075085342, 243271052, 243271065, 243271066, 243271067, and 243271068. The Blue Doodle identification numbers are 075085388, 075085389, 075085390, 075085391, 075085392, and 243271047, 243271048, 243271049, 243271050, 243271053.
WHY: The pajamas fail to meet the federal flammability standards for children's sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries.

WEIGHT WORKBENCHES
DETAILS: The recalled workbenches are free-standing and typically used for free-weight workouts. They have black, square tube, steel bases with a jet black, vinyl, adjustable bench seat and backrest. "Powertec" is embossed on the backrest pad and printed on a sticker located on the upright or the base frame of the workbench. They were sold from Sept. 2011 to May 2012. The model name and number are located on the product's packaging. They include the Workbench Multipress with Isolateral Arms with model number WB-MP11, the Workbench Olympic Bench with model number WB-OB11, and the Workbench Utility Bench with model number WB-UB11.
WHY: The weld on the backrest adjustment brackets of the weight workbench can break, posing an injury hazard.
INCIDENTS: One incident involving a minor injury.

AIR MISTERS
DETAILS: Target is recalling hand-held devices designed to spray a mist for personal cooling. The Air Misters are 8 inches tall and hold 2 ounces of water at the "Fill" line. They are clear plastic cylinders with colored tops and bases. The tops and bases come in black, blue, green and pink. They were sold from February 2012 to May 2012.
WHY: The Air Mister can shatter during use, posing an injury hazard.
INCIDENTS: Three reports of shattering, including one in which a consumer received lacerations.

FLOOR LAMPS
DETAILS: This recall involves Burien model floor lamps with four individual light sockets and white glass shades on top of four individual tubes of varying lengths. The lamps are approximately 72 inches tall and were sold in stainless steel and bronze finishes. Model number 1117 with the date of manufacture between 2010.11 (Nov. 2010) and 2012.09 (Sept. 2012) are included. The information can be found on a label affixed to the underside of the base. They were sold from November 2010 through September 2012.
WHY: The on/off foot switch on the lamps can fail and melt, resulting in shock and fire hazards.
INCIDENTS: Three reports of melting switches.

CHAIRS
DETAILS: Hayward Push Back reclining arm chairs. They are 38 inches high and covered in brown or black faux leather fabric with double-needle baseball stitching. The brown chair is item number HGB-805-1. The black chair is item number HGB-805-2. The item number is on the upper right-hand side of the product tag attached to the bottom side of the chair's footrest. They were sold at Value City Furniture stores and American Signature Furniture stores from June 2012 to August 2012.
WHY: The chair can tip over backward when used in its fully reclined position, posing a fall hazard.
INCIDENTS: None reported.
