‘Real Housewives’ star will make a stop in Modesto. See where, when and why

Luann de Lesseps of “The Real Housewives of New York City” fame will perform a cabaret show at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Also coming up is the annual Stanislaus Artist Open Studio Tour, the San Joaquin Valley Portuguese Festival and the Modesto Pollinator Festival. These are just some of entertainment and events happening in the coming days in the Modesto region.

Countess Luann de Lesseps

An original cast member of hugely popular TV franchise “The Real Housewives of New York City” brings her cabaret show to the Gallo Center. Countess Luann de Lesseps was ranked the No. 1 Housewife by TV Guide, topping all 46 housewives across all franchised cities, according to the Gallo Center website.

Open Studio Tour

See artists at work in their studios during the Stanislaus Artist Open Studio Tour. There will be artists participating in Modesto, Ceres, Hughson, Knights Ferry, Turlock and Oakdale during the self-guided event this year. A variety of works will be available. The tour is free, with downloadable maps available online (see below).

Portuguese fest

The San Joaquin Valley Portuguese Festival returns to the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. There will be music, a carnival, vendors, food and more. A parade will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday. On Sunday, a bloodless bullfight begins at 4 p.m. The festival is offered by the Carlos Vieira Foundation.

Pollinator fest

The fourth annual Modesto Pollinator Festival will set up at the La Loma Native Garden. Among the highlights will be the children’s pollinator costume parade at 10:15 a.m. The all-ages event includes activities for people to enjoy, educational booths, food and music.

“My Fair Lady”

The Gallo Center for the Arts will host the final touring performance of “My Fair Lady,” which according to an email from the Gallo Center is leaving the road permanently. The musical is the story of pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins, who decides to transform Cockney Eliza Doolittle into a cultured woman.

Flor de Toloache

Latin Grammy-winning group Flor de Toloache will bring its music to the Gallo Center. The group “mixes tradition and innovation, breaking boundaries with its edgy, versatile, and fresh take on traditional Latin American music,” according to the center’s website.

Led Zeppelin tribute

Led Zepagain: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin brings its show to the State Theatre. The group is the longest-standing tribute to Led Zeppelin, celebrating over 35 years in existence, according to the State Theatre website.

“El Ojo Comienza En La Mano”

The Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock will present a film screening of “El Ojo Comienza En La Mano,” followed by a Q&A with director Yehuda Sharim. The film is “is a tribute to campesino histories in rural California through the artwork of an artist largely absent from critical conversations on Chicanx art, Ruben A. Sanchez,” according to the Carnegie website.
