Reagan’s Famous ‘Tear down this wall’ speech turns 30

Thirty years ago — on June 12, 1987 — President Ronald Reagan stood in front of the Berlin Wall and gave one of the most historic speeches of his presidency. He called upon Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to ease Cold War tensions, and famously said, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” The wall came down two years later, opening the border between East and West Berlin.
