Ready to watch the Blue Angels? Prepare for triple-digit heat and possible severe storms.

If you're gearing up to watch the Blue Angels fly over Pensacola Beach this week, then you're in for a hot one — or even a wet one.

The National Weather Service in Mobile told the News Journal that heat indices this week will sit just behind the threshold of heat advisories, and Pensacola has 60% to 70% chance of storms.

"The heat indices will pretty much be 100 to 107 degree range," meteorologist Steve Miller said. "We start issuing heat advisories when the heat index tops out around 108 degrees. It's still going to be hot, just not warranting an advisory at this point."

Miller said the high heat index will last through the weekend along with high chances of severe storms each day.

"No matter how you cut it − 90 degrees is still hot, which will bring some instability, so we could see some strong to severe storms each day," he said.

NWS recommends being caution when spending long periods outdoors during high heat, so if you do go outside make sure to drink plenty of water.

They also recommend not staying outside too long during the heat to avoid heat-related illness.

"It's like anything. If you go outside, don't stay outside too long and drink water when you do," Miller said. "You should definitely be drinking a lot of water in these cases. If you do feel issues coming on, get in the cool, get in the shade and cool down."
