Are you ready to vote in South Carolina’s primary? Here’s who is running and what to know

In a few months, South Carolina will host a primary for its state government positions.

This fall, Horry County residents will vote in the general November election for president, county sheriff, U.S. representative and state legislators, among other positions. Before that, there’s the primary.

The primary election will be held on June 11, a Tuesday, and only a handful of the districts will be voting. One out of the 11 South Carolina House of Representative districts located in Horry County will vote and two out of five state senate districts.

Votes will also be cast in one Horry County School board district. In other districts, only one registered candidate in each party is running unopposed.

South Carolina cast votes for presidential candidates during the Feb. 3 presidential primary. President Joe Biden won for the Democrats and former president Donald J. Trump for Republicans.
