When the latest official trailer and poster for Ready Player One dropped over the weekend, we expected to spend our time consumed by a fiendishly difficult Easter egg hunt.

It's what the film's good at, after all.

Instead, we found ourselves preoccupied with Tye Sheridan's freakishly long leg. Or at least, that's what we thought we were preoccupied with until we read this very detailed Twitter thread.

Because although Tye's leg looks about two metres long, the image of his character climbing up the side of a building is totally accurate and definitely in proportion.

Why? Because science.

But don't just take our word for it – have a look through Captain Disillusion's killer explanation as to why Tye's leg looks off but actually isn't. He's included diagrams and everything.

"Many resources on drawing will tell you that the average human crotch occurs at the half-way point along the length of the body," the hoax-debunker explained.

"Looking at the poster, there are several reliable structures from which we can reverse-engineer the angle and 'focal length' of the painting," he added. "The half-way point, as dictated by the rules of perspective, lands squarely on his crotch!"

So, there you have it! There's no Photoshop fail here, guys – or at least if there is, Ready Player One knows exactly where to go to explain it away.

Spielberg's upcoming Ready Player One doesn't stop the mindblowing tricks there, though; they're also in the film's logo.

Because not only is Ready Player One's logo a maze, that maze is a nod to Atari video game Adventure, which, funnily enough, first introduced the world to the concept of Easter eggs.

Oh, and it was also the inspiration of Oasis creator James Halliday in the original Ready Player One story. Consider our minds blown.

Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg and TJ Miller will star in Ready Player One, which is scheduled for release next year.
