Get ready to meet the sleekest smartphone of 2014 – but you can’t buy one

Samsung now has another company to fear besides Apple

The brand new HTC One (M8) features what is hands down the most beautiful design we’ve seen on any widely available smartphone. If Xiaomi’s short history has taught us anything, however, the new One is in store for some stiff competition in the coming months. The scrappy Chinese smartphone maker has modeled its business after Apple and, just like Apple, its handsets thus far have been beautiful and powerful. Now, according to a new leak, it looks like Xiaomi has a new gem in store.

Leaked specs posted to Weibo and picked up by Chinese-language MyDrives suggest that Xiaomi is getting ready to launch the successor to its wildly popular Xiaomi Mi3. And keeping with its love of following Apple’s lead, the new device is apparently called the Xiaomi Mi3S.

According to the leak, the Xiaomi Mi3 will feature a gorgeous design along with high-end specs that include a 5-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and LTE.

Despite the powerful specs and sleek design, the Mi3S will reportedly cost just $320 off-contract.

The bad news, unfortunately, is that Xiaomi doesn’t yet sell any devices in the U.S., so odds are pretty good that you won’t be able to purchase this terrific new phone unless you jump through some hoops.
