When will Reacher season 3 be released?

After two successful outings, Reacher season 3 is officially on the way, bringing star Alan Ritchson back into the line of fire for his most explosive adventure yet.

Based on the popular literary character created by author Lee Child, Jack Reacher is an ex-military hard guy, with bags of investigative experience and time in active war zones under his belt.

With his military life now in the rearview mirror, Reacher returns home to the United States and lives life like a drifter, floating from state to state. However, his bullet-strewn past isn’t as far behind as he once thought and it’s not long before he must rely on his old skills once more.

When will Reacher season 3 be released?

An official release date for Reacher season 3 hasn’t been revealed but the fact that it’s already in production is a promising sign.

With so much lead-in time, perhaps we will see the show return to Prime Video before 2024 comes to an end. With season 2 dropping in December, maybe the festive season will mark the arrival of Reacher as well as Santa Claus.

Reacher season 3 was given the go-ahead in December 2023 before season two had even aired. Once the show’s second instalment finally landed, it was a quick hit with viewers, emerging as the most-watched TV or film project on Prime Video during its premiere weekend.

The first two series of the show were based on two of Child’s Reacher books. The first focused on the author’s debut novel, Killing Floor, which was released in 1997 and saw Reacher wrongfully arrested for murder. Soon afterwards, he teams up with a couple of cops to unravel corruption spanning lawmen, politicians and heads of business.

Reacher season 2 was based on Child’s 2007 novel Bad Luck and Trouble which saw Reacher forced to reunite with his old military buddies to get to the bottom of a mystery when one of his old friends dies in mysterious circumstances.

Reacher season 3 was confirmed by Ritchson himself via a special behind-the-scenes video shared in December 2023. Watch it below:

As Ritchson explains in the short clip, details about the show’s third season are still largely under wraps but it’s believed that the series will take its cues from the 2003 Reacher novel Persuader.

The seventh book in Child’s series sees Reacher working as an unofficial, undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent where he ultimately works to avenge the death of a murdered colleague.

There’s no trailer available for Reacher season 3.

However, much like our thoughts on the show’s potential release date, the very fact that cameras are rolling on the series means we’re bound to see something soon. Watch this space.

Who is in the Reacher season 3 cast?

We know that Ritchson will be back as Reacher. After all, it wouldn’t be much of a series without him. However, these new episodes may find our hero surrounded by some new faces.

Ritchson has previously confirmed that Reacher season 3 will have more of a solo quest vibe. "It may not have anything to do with family, with his past, he's just living that adventure out and that's kind of the direction that we've gone and it seems to really be working,” explained the star.

That said, we also know that Ritchson will be joined by his former military pal Frances Neagley, played by Maria Sten. Elsewhere, Variety confirmed a couple of newcomers in early February with actors Anthony Michael Hall and Sonya Cassidy set to join Reacher on his next mission.

According to the outlet, Hall, known for his work with director John Hughes and more recently in the horror sequel Halloween Kills, will play a “formidable and succesful businessman” known as Zachary Beck. A widow and father to a 20-year-old son, his character owns a rug import company that Reacher believes is cover for an illicit drug smuggling operation.

Meanwhile, British actor Cassidy, known for her time in The Tudors and The Man Who Fell To Earth, will play Susan Duffy, a character described as “an extremely intelligent and tough DEA agent from Boston with a sharp and sarcastic sense of humour.”
