Yellowknife RCMP say a 31-year-old man died early Friday morning after suffering "an apparent" gunshot wound.

In a news release, police say the shooting occurred at an apartment building at 42 Con Road.

"EMS attended the scene and despite life saving attempts, the man died on scene."

The release says RCMP are asking anyone who lives in the building that heard the incident or witnessed anything suspicious, to call police.

"This incident marks the fourth homicide involving firearms in Yellowknife since November of 2023," the release says.

"We need witnesses to come forward and to help us provide answers to the victim's family who is now grieving an unimaginable loss."
