Man charged with 2nd-degree murder after woman's body found in southeast Sask.
RCMP have charged a 24-year-old man with second-degree murder after a woman's body was found in a rural area in southeast Saskatchewan.
Taylor Japp is scheduled to appear in Regina provincial court on Monday. He is charged with killing Brianna Hayes, 28, whose body was found Thursday in a rural location in the RM of Moose Mountain, according to an RCMP news release.
Both Japp and Hayes are from Oxbow, Sask., which is about 250 kilometres southeast of Regina.
Police said they received a report of a potential homicide on Wednesday. They began a search of the Oxbow landfill, but did not find human remains.
Hayes's body was found around noon on Thursday in a rural location. Her family has been notified and victim services have been made available, police said.
RCMP also arrested 27-year-old Tyler Shaw from Gainsborough, Sask., and charged him with accessory after the fact to murder.
Shaw was scheduled to make his first appearance in Regina provincial court on Friday.
RCMP said they don't believe there is any further threat to public safety and are asking anyone with information about Hayes's death, or who interacted with her this week, to call 310-RCMP.
