ST. LOUIS — A local publisher and TV pundit is running for congress. Ray Hartmann, a prominent journalist and a key figure in the Nine PBS program Donnybrook since its inception in 1987 shared the news on his Substack page. He will be running against Republican Congresswoman Ann Wagner.

“I’m making a bit of a career change. Tomorrow I will be filing to run for Missouri’s 2nd District Congressional seat against Rep. Ann Wagner.

I really believe that our nation is at a crossroads like none other in our lifetimes. The future of women’s health and reproductive freedom is on the ballot. Democracy itself is on the ballot,” states Hartmann.

Hartmann did not indicate which party he is affiliated with. The Democratic primary for U.S. House Missouri District 2 is on August 6, 2024. John Kiehne is running in the Democratic primary.

Hartmann also announced his departure from Donnybrook on March 14. He is recognized for founding the Riverfront Times, contributing to St. Louis Magazine and Substack, and being a voice on KTRS.
